You have to remember to perform your fundamental difference at all times. If someone wants to take you to the "movie theatre" because they imagine you have never had an experience like that before, you have to let them or else you'd be ungrateful. You have the responsibility to ensure that the fantasy of your exotic difference remains. Your hobbies cannot be too familiar and generic. Things like working out, taking walks or hanging out with your friends for fun is not enough. You have to make sure that everybody understands how much you love to dance to exotic African music and do not leave out the story of your classic rides to school on the back of your pet lion.
This difference also applies to your academic interests and general passions. It's not enough for someone like you to be simply be interested in science or French art history. You have to be interested in the devastation of AIDS on the African continent, famine and the economic hardships of emerging African democracies. Your difference needs to be most explicit in your speech. Don't speak too well or else you'll be boring and you'll need to explain whether you went to a private school and grew up with rich parents.
The bottomline is that you absolutely have to prove your difference. You have to validate the ways in which you diversify your campus. The best way to do that is perform your difference at all times.
